PADESCE Apprenticeship 2025 for Cameroonian Youth

  • The Republic of Cameroon, in partnership with the World Bank, is offering an exciting opportunity for young people and companies through the Secondary Education and Skills Development Project (PADESCE).
  • This initiative aims to strengthen technical and vocational skills nationwide by connecting learners with professional companies and learning centers.
  • If you’re a young person eager to gain hands-on experience or a company ready to contribute to workforce development, this program provides the perfect platform to grow, learn, and make an impact.

Profile of PADESCE

  • The Secondary Education and Skills Development Project (PADESCE) is a national initiative of the Government of Cameroon, with support from the World Bank.
  • Its mission is simple yet powerful—to expand access to quality education and to promote practical skills that respond to today’s labor market needs.
  • The program focuses on strengthening technical and vocational training systems to ensure that young Cameroonians, especially girls, can acquire relevant, job-ready skills.
  • PADESCE aims to connect education with employment, creating opportunities for sustainable growth and reducing the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry needs.

The Targeted Skills To be Developed

Under PADESCE, the Skills Development Facility (SDF) plays a key role in promoting apprenticeships and workplace learning. The SDF supports companies and learning centers in hosting apprentices by offering financial assistance and training support.
This partnership ensures that apprentices receive high-quality, hands-on experience in real-world settings, guided by experienced professionals. It also helps companies develop a pipeline of skilled workers while contributing to national development.

Eligible Candidates

The apprenticeship program is open to any national or international company or training center in Cameroon, regardless of its size or legal status.  The program aims to equip youth with skills that enhance their employability and self-employment. To qualify, organizations must:
  1. Have been legally operating for at least two years.
  2. Belong to one of the country’s priority sectors—such as agriculture, construction, energy, digital technology, or public works.
  3. Provide qualified supervisors who can guide apprentices.
  4. Have basic production or service facilities and equipment.
  5. Be ready to accept several apprentices, including young women.
  6. Offer structured on-the-job training that represents at least 20% of the total learning program.
  7. Demonstrate a willingness to hire apprentices after successful completion of their training (optional but highly valued).
Selected companies and centers will sign a formal agreement with PADESCE outlining their responsibilities and the training framework. More companies from around the world that are willing to participate in the training are welcome to join the program.

Content of the Curriculum

The PADESCE apprenticeship program provides essential support to ensure that learning is effective and accessible. The program is a high-quality curriculum that aims to empower young people with fundamental skills by the time they complete it. The Skills Development Facility will fund or facilitate:
  • A monthly allowance for apprentices to cover transportation and food.
  • Learning materials and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Insurance coverage for the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Training resources and capacity building for supervisors.
  • Structured work-based learning activities to enhance practical skills.
This approach helps remove financial and logistical barriers for young people while ensuring companies can focus on quality training and supervision. The selected youth from different corners of the continent should have needed quality.

Reasons to Join the PADESCE Apprenticeship

For students and young job seekers, this program is a gateway to a successful career. It allows participants to gain industry experience, improve their employability, and acquire practical skills in demand in Cameroon’s growing economy.
For companies, the program is an opportunity to contribute to national development, strengthen their workforce, and access motivated young talent. By hosting apprentices, companies also demonstrate social responsibility and commitment to sustainable growth.

The Scope of PADESCE

PADESCE is built on strong values—equity, inclusion, and innovation. The apprenticeship program targets talented young people who need help. The project aims to create an apprenticeship system that meets international standards while remaining accessible to everyone. Its goals include:
  • Promoting dialogue and collaboration between industries and training institutions.
  • Building a solid regulatory framework for apprenticeships.
  • Ensuring equitable funding mechanisms and transparent operations.
  • Encouraging an inclusive system that benefits youth from all backgrounds.
Through this initiative, Cameroon is taking a major step toward aligning education with labor market needs and preparing the next generation for meaningful employment. The PADESCE Apprenticeship Program 2025 is for Cameroonian Youth who have the needed qualifications.
