Health and Hygiene Facilitator

Key Responsibilities:

Health and Hygiene Facilitator
World Vision is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programs in 30 districts of Rwanda. Our interventions during the strategic period 2026-2030 aim to reach 2.5 million of the most vulnerable children. This is done through programming in Child Protection, Education, Nutrition and WASH, and Poverty Alleviation (Resilience and Livelihoods).
World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a qualified, dedicated, and experienced national to serve as Health and Hygiene Facilitator (1) for the Food For Education/Home Grown School Feeding project. The position will be based in Nyamasheke District or Ngororero District. The Health and Hygiene Facilitator will report directly to the Health and Hygiene Coordinator. This individual will also interact closely with district-based education stakeholders and other project technical specialists within the reporting structure.

Purpose of the position:

The Health and Hygiene Facilitator oversees project activities in their area, serves as a liaison between World Vision and local education stakeholders, and reports deliverables to the Health & Hygiene Coordinator.

Project implementation.

Facilitate Food For Education (FFE)/Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) project planning and implementation through relevant and appropriate project models in the district area, while coordinating with other technical specialists to ensure cross-cutting themes are adequately integrated in the detailed implementation plan.
Project activities were implemented effectively at the district level. 20%

Liaison and collaboration

Working with the cluster structure to identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations, and networks with partners and other stakeholders in implementation at the district level, and to integrate cluster project activities with the district, MININFRA, and the Ministry of Health development plans.
WV (FFE) presence in key district education forums 20%

Training:

  • Mobilizing PTAs, SMCs, SGACs, DEOs, SEOs, volunteers, and other relevant stakeholders, and conducting training to build capacity in improved health & hygiene methodologies.
  • Develop and distribute relevant guidelines, designs, educational materials, training manuals, tools, and standards on health and hygiene topics.
  • Well-equipped committees and volunteers at the district level 20%

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)

  • Support the DME team in developing the H&H program monitoring and evaluation system, creating or adapting tools, and promoting their adoption.
  • Produce timely, accurate, compliant, and quality reports for WV and mandatory WFP, government, and other stakeholder reports.
  • Consistent tracking of indicators and quality reports 10%

Resource Mobilization:

  • Contribute to the development of concept papers and proposals for funding agencies.
  • Meaningful contribution to Resource Acquisition efforts by the GAM team

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical skills and Experience

  • The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training:
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of working in WASH or health and hygiene projects and leading teams.
  • Strong background in WASH, Health & Hygiene programming, Sanitation marketing, and/or innovating community development
  • Experience in designing and leading Social Behavior Change Communication programs.
  • Excellent project management skills and a good understanding of the project life cycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report-writing and formal communication skills
  • Must have a valid motorcycle riding license and be able to ride.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong skills in networking with health/hygiene sector stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing sound proposals and concept notes
Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience.
