iCog-Labs Opens up Its Apprenticeship Program in Ethiopia

The iCog-Labs and graduates: Are you a student or recent graduate eager to gain real-world skills, explore future career paths, and work with cutting-edge technology? If so, the iCog-Labs Student Apprenticeship Program in Ethiopia could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Designed with youth in mind, this program offers practical, hands-on experience in some of today’s most in-demand technology fields—all while learning from experienced professionals in a dynamic environment.

Profile of the iCog-Labs Apprenticeship Program

The iCog-Labs Apprenticeship Program is open year-round, allowing students to apply whenever they feel ready. It is specifically created for undergraduate and graduate students from Addis Ababa University, other local universities, and international institutions who want to complement their academic knowledge with practical, work-based learning.
Through this structured apprenticeship, students gain exposure to real projects, modern tools, and innovative problem-solving approaches. More importantly, the program helps young people discover their strengths, refine their interests, and prepare for competitive careers in technology and innovation.

Learn, Build, and Grow with Real-World Experience

Unlike traditional classroom learning, the iCog-Labs apprenticeship emphasizes hands-on training. Apprentices work alongside skilled professionals, gaining valuable insight into how technology is applied in real-world scenarios. This experience allows students to build confidence, sharpen technical skills, and develop a professional mindset.
Participants also benefit from exposure to international networks, helping them understand global standards and expectations in the tech industry. Beyond the apprenticeship itself, iCog-Labs continues to support students by offering career guidance, job interview preparation, and professional recommendations when possible.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The short answer: any motivated and willing student.
  • iCog-Labs welcomes applications from students who are passionate about learning and innovation.
  • However, due to the high number of applicants, certain academic and selection requirements apply.
  • To be eligible, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
It’s also important to note that iCog-Labs partners with more than 36 universities, and the program receives a large volume of applications—sometimes exceeding 500 per month. Because of this, not all applicants can be accepted immediately.

Application and Selection Process

Given the large number of applications, we must adopt a rigorous selection process. After submitting your application, the iCog-Labs team carefully reviews all entries. Shortlisted candidates are contacted and invited to proceed to the final stages, which include:
  1. An interview
  2. A technical qualification test
Due to the volume of applications, iCog-Labs is unable to send individual confirmation messages to every applicant. If you do not receive a response right away, it may mean your application is still under review or was not shortlisted. Only selected candidates are contacted for the next steps.

Need Clarification? Don’t Hesitate to Reach Out

If you believe your application is strong, have questions about the process, or received instructions but are still waiting to hear back, you’re encouraged to follow up. The iCog-Labs HR team is always ready to assist enthusiastic applicants. You can contact them directly at:
