The Frank Ferguson Fellowship in Engineering 2026 at the University of Galway, Fully funded Master’s in Ireland for Zambian engineers!

The Frank Ferguson Fellowship in Engineering is a prestigious, fully funded opportunity for Zambian professionals to pursue a Master’s degree in engineering at the University of Galway, Ireland. Named in honour of Frank Ferguson—an innovative engineer who dedicated 50 years to advancing engineering in Zambia—this fellowship supports talent development and leadership in the field.
Offered by the Irish Government through the Ireland Fellows Programme, in partnership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and the University of Galway, it awards up to two fellowships each year (one for a male candidate and one for a female candidate).
This is a fantastic opportunity to study at a top-ranked university (the University of Galway’s Engineering School ranks in the global top 2%), gain a world-class education, bring new skills back to Zambia, and contribute to economic development in your country.

What the fellowship covers

The award is fully funded and includes:

  • Master of Civil Engineering (MENG-MEC)
  • ME in Energy Systems Engineering (MENG-MEES)
  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering (1MSME1)
  • ME in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (and similar relevant options listed on the official site)
You need to select two relevant programmes that match your background.

To qualify for the 2026/2027 intake, you must:
  • Be a resident national of Zambia
